Alyson Hagg grew up in Billerica, MA, where she first began taking dance lessons at the age of 3. Since then, Alyson has always been happiest when she is dancing. She grew up taking as many dance classes as her parents would allow in styles such as ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, lyrical, pointe, modern, acro, and contemporary. Classes that she wasn’t taking, she often participated in as a teacher’s assistant. Her life revolved around dance classes, performances, and competitions.
Alyson has traveled near and far to participate in various dance performances. She has experience performing at NBA Celtics games, Walt Disney World, the Bahamas, Royal Caribbean International cruise ships, the Indianapolis 500, and at the Orange Bowl half-time show alongside country singer Dierks Bentley.
At 16, Alyson began teaching beginner-level classes at her family’s newly opened dance studio, which began her dance teaching career. She continued to teach at local dance studios when she moved to Bridgewater, MA, for college. Today she continues to teach classes in Chelmsford, MA, at her family’s studio multiple days a week.
Alyson earned her Bachelor’s degree in both special education and psychology from Bridgewater State University. During her college career, she danced at a competitive level for the BSU Dance Team. She held a leadership role on the dance team and helped organize annual trips to the national and regional collegiate dance competitions for UDA.
Alyson is currently taking classes towards earning her certificate in dance education through the National Dance Education Organization. In addition, she regularly attends adult dance classes of hip hop, jazz, and contemporary styles for fun. She also enjoys taking fitness classes, spending time with family, crafting, taking photos, doing DIY home improvement projects, and going on adventures with her two rescued dogs, Raya and Roger.
Through teaching dance classes at Arts Academy of New Hampshire, Alyson hopes to create a safe environment that promotes acceptance of all dancers, regardless of natural abilities, body type, and level of experience. She truly believes that any person can learn to dance!
