Alexandra Vergara grew up in northern CT, where she studied theatre and creative writing at The Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts. After taking a gap year to figure out her path, she settled at The University of New Hampshire, where she earned her B.A. in English Teaching and M. Ed in Secondary Education. An active community member on campus, Ms. Vergara served on the leadership team for the Diversity Support Coalition and Alliance. She also ran a materials management program called Trash2Treasure, interned at the Boston International Newcomer’s Academy with the College for Social Innovation, studied abroad in Granada, and worked as a residential tutor for Upward Bound.
As an educator, curiosity and play are foundational aspects of Ms. Vergara’s methods and practices of teaching. Influenced by her background in the arts, her teaching style is energetic, student-driven, and creative. Ms.Vergara is thrilled to be involved in holistic arts education at The Arts Academy of New Hampshire and to share what she learned throughout her own arts education experience.
